About Jed Carrol

Jed Carrol’s real estate experience began almost twenty years ago as a real estate attorney handling residential and commercial transactions in Rochester and Buffalo, NY.  Before practicing as an attorney, he studied business law and business operations through a combined MBA  and Law degree program at the University at Buffalo.  His passion is understanding how business systems actually operate and what factors determine success or failure.

For years Jed acutely listened to both buyers and sellers as they discussed their experiences in home selling and buying.   Time and again Jed heard the same things; frustration of buyers not being able to talk with sellers, a gnawing feeling that significant commissions to be paid to agents clouded advice,  a lack of independent information and a belief that there was no other way to effectively sell.  These insights drove Jed to develop an innovate real estate system to facilitate open communication and to “cut the fat” from the system.

Today, America’s Choice and 2.5% Real Estate Direct offer a better system for thousands of buyers and sellers.  As CEO of these successful real estate companies, Jed continues to be passionate about teaching others, innovation, and to offer an insider’s view into the real estate market.

  1. Jed,

I agree with most of what you said. I have taken buyers to FSBO’s and explained to the buyers that I would expect a minimum commission from them if the seller would not pay. My expectation with buyer was 1%. It was not the home they wanted, but if it was, it would have been worth the 1%. I know many realtors avoid these places like the plague, but I believe in this internet available world, we need to think about what we are charging the lister (seller).

    • Hello Mary, Thank you for your comment and viewpoint. My family spent last July 4th holiday on Keuka Lake. I must say it is breathtaking and well worth the trip. It appears your clients are well served by working with you and it most cases I am sure they appreciate your knowledge and expertise and do not mind compensating you fairly for your role in their home search. Have a great weekend! Jed
